Lando Norris clinched a commanding victory at the Monaco Grand Prix on Sunday, securing his second win of the 2025 Formula 1 season and cutting McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri’s championship lead to just three points, MySportDab Reports.
Starting from pole, Norris led a tactically intense race from start to finish, holding off pressure from Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc in the closing stages. Leclerc finished second in his home race, with Piastri third and Red Bull’s Max Verstappen fourth — the top four finishing exactly as they started.
“Monaco baby!” Norris celebrated over team radio after taking the chequered flag. “This is what I dreamed of as a kid — winning here is incredible.”
The Briton’s triumph was McLaren’s first win in Monaco since 2008. Norris now stands as a strong contender in the title race, reigniting McLaren’s hopes with a near-perfect drive that saw him lap all but four cars on the grid.
Behind the leaders, drivers largely played the long game, with Verstappen delaying his pit stop until the penultimate lap. Lewis Hamilton came home fifth for Ferrari, while Racing Bulls’ Isack Hadjar impressed in sixth.
Haas’s Esteban Ocon was seventh, followed by Racing Bulls’ Liam Lawson, who claimed his first points of the season in eighth. Williams drivers Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz rounded out the top ten.
Mercedes endured a difficult afternoon, with George Russell finishing 11th and rookie Kimi Antonelli 18th — last of the classified finishers.
The race saw early drama when Sauber’s Gabriel Bortoleto hit the tyre wall at Portier on lap one, bringing out the virtual safety car. Alpine’s Pierre Gasly retired after a collision with Yuki Tsunoda, while Fernando Alonso’s Aston Martin broke down mid-race, extending his scoreless streak.
