Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is set for his first national team managerial role following an illustrious 30-year-old career in the dugouts, MySportDab reports.

The 65-year-old has reportedly agreed to terms with Brazil’s football governing house to become their new national team head coach.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Ancelotti has agreed to resume as the Selecao head coach this summer in June.

He is expected to prepare and lead the team to the 2026 World Cup, with the possibility of continuing till the 2030 World Cup based on performance.

Notably, this development marks a drastic turn in Carlo Ancelotti’s managerial career. He has never taken a first-team managerial offer with a national team.

He first had a taste of international management in 1992 but as an assistant manager with Italy’s national team under Arrigo Sacchi.

After the spell with the Italy national team, he took his first first-team managerial job with Italian club Reggiana in 1995 and the rest was history.

From Reggiana, Ancelotti has traversed the lengths and breadths of top clubs in Europe’s top leagues. Some of the biggest clubs he has managed include Juventus, AC Milan, Chelsea, PSG, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Napoli, Everton and Parma.

His most notable achievements include winning the Champions League twice with AC Milan and Real Madrid, including their domestic league titles.

He has also won the Premier League title with Chelsea and the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich.

His imminent emergence as Brazil’s new national team head coach marks a drastic turn on his managerial career trajectory.

Notably, despite all things now in place for his new role with the South American giants, he is expected to continue in the dugout as Real Madrid’s manager till the end of the season.

It is understood both parties have agreed to respectfully end their collaboration at the end of the campaign following a run of dismal performances of late.
