Lisandro Martinez In Tears After Being Stretchered Off Crystal Palace Match

Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez was in tears as he left the pitch on a stretcher due to injury, MySportDab reports.

The Argentine centre-back apparently picked up an excruciating knee injury after he crumpled to the ground following a rough challenge by Crystal Palace attacker Ismalia Sarr.

He was dejected with his hands on his head while he lay on the ground and was quickly attended to by medics.

After a few minutes of attention, it was concluded that he couldn’t continue with the game and had to be stretchered off.

While on the stretcher, he was worryingly down to tears showing he must have picked up another excruciating blow.

The 27-year-old was later subbed off with Matthijs de Ligt coming on in his place.

It is the fourth time Lisandro Martinez has picked up a knee injury and the first time under the new Man United boss Ruben Amorim.

United boss Ruben Amorim admitted that Martinez’s injury appeared to be serious.

“We are going to see in the next few days but I think it is a serious situation. He is not only a great player but a strong character in the dressing room,” he told Sky Sports

“He felt it and when you are a player, you know when it is something serious. We are here to help him in this difficult moment like he has helped us.”

It was a double blow for the Portuguese boss as United suffered a shock 2-0 loss to Crystal Palace, thanks to a brace by Jean-Philippe Mateta.

United have now gone four straight Premier League games without a win and without a goal.
