Mnchester City suffered a 4-2 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in an exciting UEFA Champions League match which took place at the Etihad Stadium.
Despite Erling Haaland scoring twice and City showing more fight after the break, the French side did enough to secure an important away victory.
PSG took control early in the game with quick passing, smart movement and clinical finishing. City struggled to deal with the visitors’ attacking threat in the first half, leaving themselves with a difficult task after the break.

The result was a major statement from the defending European champions, while City were left to consider what went wrong during a poor opening 45 minutes.
Paris Saint-Germain started strongly and opened the scoring through Desire Doue in the 13th minute. The young forward cut inside and fired a low shot past Gianluigi Donnarumma, giving the visitors an early lead.
The French side struck again just two minutes later. Doue played a key role in the move, receiving Ousmane Dembele’s cross before sending the ball back into the area.
Dembele had made a clever run into space and headed home to make it 2-0. Manchester City struggled to match PSG’s pace and movement all through the encounter.
The visitors continued to create openings and could have added more goals before half-time. Achraf Hakimi came close to scoring when he met a cross inside the six-yard box, but his header hit the post.
It was a big warning for City, who were finding it difficult to stop PSG from getting into dangerous positions. Vitinha then made it 3-0 in the 32nd minute with a beauty.
Warren Zaïre-Emery provided a clever backheel assist, allowing the Portuguese midfielder to drive a low shot into the net. The visitors went into the break with a commanding three-goal advantage, having punished City’s defensive mistakes and lack of control.
Manchester City returned from the break with better control and attacking intent. Manager Enzo Maresca made three changes at half-time, bringing on Nunes, Bouaddi and Ndiaye in an attempt to change the game.
The changes helped City create more chances. Haaland pulled one goal back in the 53rd minute with a powerful header after Ndiaye delivered a cross from the left.
The goal gave the home fans hope of a comeback. City nearly scored again when Antoine Semenyo struck the crossbar after cutting inside which could have give them more hope.
Haaland then missed a close-range chance, although the move was ruled offside. Enzo Fernandez also wasted a good headed opportunity as City pushed forward.
However, PSG restored their three-goal advantage in the 63rd minute. Maghnes Akliouche collected a low pass from Dembele, turned and shot towards the top corner.
Donnarumma got a hand to the ball but could not prevent it from crossing the line, making the score 4-1. Erling Haaland reduced the deficit again in the 75th minute.
Bouaddi combined with the Norwegian striker before cutting the ball back into the area, where Haaland finished from close range to make it 4-2.
City continued to search for another goal as the match carried on. Haaland came close with a header that struck the crossbar, while Nunes later crossed for him, only for Matvei Safonov to make an excellent goal-line save.
PSG had an opportunity to add a fifth goal when they won a late penalty. However, Ferran Torres failed to convert from the spot, sending a weak effort towards the bottom-right corner that Donnarumma saved comfortably.

Antoine Semenyo was shown a yellow card in the 61st minute for a late challenge on Nuno Mendes. The incident was one of the key disciplinary moments recorded in the second half.
Despite City’s improved performance after the break, Paris Saint-Germain held on to claim a memorable 4-2 win at the Etihad Stadium after 90 minutes of action played.
The victory showed PSG’s attacking quality and ability to punish defensive errors. Doue, Dembele, Vitinha and Akliouche all played important roles in a performance that gave the European champions plenty of reasons to be confident.
For Manchester City, Haaland’s brace was a positive sign, but their slow start proved costly. The home side created several chances after half-time but could not complete the comeback.
PSG took the points after an entertaining Champions League contest, while City must improve their defensive organisation and make better use of their chances in future matches.
