Erling Haaland strikes as Manchester United suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Manchester City in the Manchester derby Premier League match at Old Trafford.

The clash was a tense and closely contested encounter, with both teams creating chances throughout the match. Meanwhile, the visitors played most of the game with one player down.

Despite playing a large part of the game with ten men, Manchester City showed resilience and quality to secure all three points against their city rivals after the end.

The first half was filled with intensity, tackles, and drama. Both teams held on so well in the first 20 minutes without so much talking points.

A major turning point arrived in the 23rd minute when City midfielder Phil Foden was shown a straight red card following an altercation involving Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes.

The dismissal forced City to play with ten men for more than an hour, giving United a numerical advantage for the remainder of the contest.

Manchester United attempted to take control after the sending-off and enjoyed several promising moments which they failed to make anything happen.

Meanwhile, City remained organized defensively and continued to threaten on the counterattack that saw them came close to scoring.

The visitors looked dangerous whenever they moved forward, with Erling Haaland leading the attack and Enzo Fernandez producing an impressive display in midfield.

The decisive moment came in the 60th minute. Josko Gvardiol delivered a cross into the penalty area and Haaland connected with a brilliant half-volley that found the back of the net.

The goal was checked by VAR due to a possible offside, but after a lengthy review the officials confirmed that the Norwegian striker was onside. The goal stood, giving Manchester City a 1-0 lead.

Gvardiol was officially credited with the assist for Haaland’s winner. After falling behind, United pushed forward in search of an equalizer which wasn’t happening for them.

Kobbie Mainoo came close with a good opportunity, while Marcus Rashford also had chances to level the score. United even struck the woodwork during their period of pressure, but they could not find a way past City’s determined defense.

City’s backline stood firm throughout the closing stages. It was opportunities upon opportunities for the home team as they had all the advantage aside the lead.

Ruben Dias and Marc Guehi produced strong defensive performances to protect the lead, while goalkeeper and defenders dealt effectively with United’s attacking efforts.

Despite having an extra player on the pitch, the home side struggled to create the clear-cut chances needed to break down their rivals.

The match came to an end with Manchester City securing all the three points after holding on to a 1-0 victory against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Elliot Anderson was among the best player of the match who controlled the midfield and helped his side maintain composure after Foden’s dismissal.

Enzo Fernandez also played a key role, contributing both defensively and offensively as City managed the game expertly despite being a man down.

The victory continues City’s strong start to the Premier League season and highlights the character within Enzo Maresca’s squad.

Winning a derby away from home while playing with ten men for most of the match will give City significant confidence moving forward.

Meanwhile Manchester United will see this defeat as a disappointing result in front of their supporters. Michael Carrick’s side showed effort and determination but lacked the finishing touch needed to turn possession and pressure into goals.

The loss leaves United with questions to answer as they look to improve their consistency in the coming weeks. In the end, Haaland’s 60th-minute strike, assisted by Josko Gvardiol, settled another memorable derby.

Manchester City left Old Trafford with a valuable 1-0 victory, while Manchester United were left to reflect on missed opportunities in a match that could have produced a different outcome.
