Arsenal booked their place in the next round of the Carabao Cup with an impressive 4-2 victory against Ipswich Town at Portman Road.
The match was dominated by the Gunners, with 16-year-old sensation Max Dowman producing a stunning display that included two goals and an assist.
Noni Madueke and Mikel Merino also got on the scoresheet as Mikel Arteta’s side proved too strong for the newly promoted Premier League club.
The visitors made a fast start and took the lead in the 7th minute. Dowman opened the scoring after a brilliant attacking move, giving Arsenal an early advantage.
The teenager looked confident throughout the game and caused problems for the Ipswich defence whenever he had the ball.
The Gunners continued to control possession and doubled their lead in the 22nd minute. Noni Madueke finished calmly after being set up by Max Dowman, who picked out his teammate with a clever pass.

Mikel Merino found the net in the 39th minute after they forced another mistake from the Ipswich defence. The Spanish midfielder made no mistake with his finish as Arteta’s side moved into a comfortable 3-0 lead.
Dowman’s high pressing played a key role in creating the opportunity that led to the goal. The Premier League team started the second half in the same way they ended the first.
Just after the restart, Dowman grabbed his second goal of the night in the 52nd minute. Martin Zubimendi provided the assist, and the teenager showed great composure to finish and make it 4-0.
With the game seemingly over, Ipswich Town showed some fight and managed to pull a goal back in the 63rd minute. Anis Mehmeti found the net to give the home fans something to cheer about.
The goal came after a rare spell of pressure from the hosts. The home team continued to push forward and grabbed a second goal deep into stoppage time of the encounter.
Former Arsenal striker Chuba Akpom scored in the 91st minute after collecting a low cross and finishing well against his former club. However, the goal arrived too late to change the outcome of the match.
Despite conceding twice, the visitors were in complete control for most of the contest. Arteta made several changes to his starting lineup, but the quality of the team remained clear.
Young players were given opportunities, and many of them impressed in front of a packed crowd at Portman Road. The Gunners ended up with a 4-2 victory and qualified for the Carabao Cup next round.
The biggest talking point from the game was undoubtedly Max Dowman’s performance. The 16-year-old scored two goals, provided one assist, and played a part in all four Arsenal goals.
His display showed maturity beyond his age and will give the Premier League Champions supporters plenty of excitement for the future.
Ipswich Town had some positives in the second-half response, but they were unable to cope with their opponent quality in the opening hour.
Gary O’Neil’s side will now switch focus back to league action after their Carabao Cup journey came to an end.
Arsenal, meanwhile, move into the next round full of confidence and with another young star announcing himself on the big stage.
