Brighton and Hove Albion produced a brilliant performance which saw them thrashed Premier League Champions, Arsenal 3-0 at the Amex Stadium to go top four on the table.

The Seagulls were sharp from the first whistle and fully deserved all three points after outplaying the defending champions in front of their home fans.

The home side started the match with confidence and created several dangerous moments in the opening stages.

The Premier League Champions struggled to settle into their usual rhythm as the Seagulls pressed high and moved the ball quickly through midfield.

The visitors had a few half chances, but their opponent looked the more dangerous team throughout the first half. Brighton finally took the lead in the 31st minute through experienced midfielder Pascal Gross.

The German found space around the edge of the box before firing a shot that found its way into the net, giving goalkeeper David Raya little chance as things turned 1-0 between both teams.

The goal rewarded Brighton’s positive start and lifted the atmosphere inside the stadium. The hosts doubled their advantage shortly before halftime when Charalampos Kostoulas scored in the 45th minute.

The young forward produced a superb finish from long range after the home side won possession high up the pitch. Arsenal’s defense failed to close him down quickly enough, and Kostoulas punished them with an excellent strike that left the visitors with a mountain to climb going into the break.

The Gunners attempted to respond after halftime, but the home side remained organized and disciplined.

Mikel Arteta’s side enjoyed more possession during parts of the second half, yet they struggled to create clear-cut chances against a well-drilled Brighton defense.

Kai Havertz came close to reducing the deficit, but the goalkeeper was equal to the effort. Any hopes of a comeback disappeared in the second half when Chema Andres added Brighton’s third goal in the 57th minute.

The midfielder rose highest inside the penalty area and guided a header into the net after a well-delivered cross from the right flank.

The goal capped off a memorable afternoon for the Seagulls and confirmed a famous victory over one of the Premier League’s strongest teams.

The home side continued to push forward even after scoring their third goal and nearly added a fourth late in the game. The Gunners, meanwhile, looked short of ideas and were unable to find a way back into the contest.

The visitors finished the match without making a serious impact in the final third, while Brighton remained comfortable until the final whistle which saw them claim a comfortable 3-0 victory against Arsenal.

The result was a major boost for the Seagulls as they celebrated their 125th anniversary in style. Fabian Hurzeler’s team showed great energy, quality, and tactical discipline against the reigning champions.

For the Premier League Champions, it was a disappointing afternoon and their first league defeat of the season, ending an impressive winning run.

Brighton’s outstanding display earned them a deserved 3-0 victory and sent a strong message to the rest of the Premier League.

Arsenal will now look to bounce back after suffering a rare defeat, while the Seagulls can take confidence from one of their best performances of the season.
