Manchester United claimed a victory from penalty shootout 5-4 against Leeds after both teams played a 1-1 draw in preseason friendly encounter which saw them win the BoyleSports Cup.

It was a thrilling encounter between both teams as they fought until the final whistle. Michael Carrick continued with his impressive performance as United manager.

Both teams started off so well with them searching for an early goal which did not happen. They had moments which almost changed the scoreline very early.

Leeds United gave a good account of themselves until Joshua Zirkzee found a the back of the net with a beautiful goal in the 16th minute which made things 1-0.

The Stadium lightened up after the opening goal which came from the side from Old Trafford. Meanwhile, after the goal, the Leeds players did not give up on the game easily.

The pressure was on both sides until Aaronson scored in the 29th minute which saw things became level 1-1. There was nothing else that happened before the first half came to a conclusion between both teams.

Both managers were in no rush to do too much as the game resumed. It was calm between both teams as they tried to find balance once again in the encounter.

The two teams looked sharp and did more than enough for themselves going forward. The Red Devils did dominate the game and created more opportunities on goal against their opponent.

Leeds were able to soak in everything being thrown at them. The game hit the one hour mark with nothing separating them except for the ball possession.

Both managers dug deep to the bench and decided to bring in some players who needed to get some minutes. The game pace increased more with the fresh legs who were introduced.

With 80 minutes gone, it was still goalless for both teams who were already told they would go into taking penalties if the scoreline stayed the same after full-time.

Nothing could separate them as the match eventually ended with Manchester United 1-1 Leeds United. Both teams were forced into playing penalty shootout to find a winner after 90 minutes of action.

Both Luke Shaw and Dominick Calvert-Lewin scored for their respective teams as the first takers. Cunha scored, while Harry Wilson failed to make his penalty count as the second takers.

Fletcher and Stach both hit the target which made the penalty scoreline 3-2 in favor of the Old Trafford club as they continued. Bruno Fernandes stepped up and missed his penalty.

Gnonto made no mistake in making the scoreline 3-3 after converting neatly. New signing, Tielemans scored before Noah Okafor also made no mistake keeping things level.

Mazraoui scored his penalty, while Justin failed to hit target as Manchester United ended the penalty shootout claiming a 5-4 victory against Leeds United.

It is another victory Michael Carrick would take and count all the positives that came out of his team who showed pure class during the shootout which ended in their favor.

While Leeds United will feel the disappointment, they will also take the fact that, they could hold a formidable side all through 90 minutes which wasn’t an easy one.

Both teams will move forward knowing the new season is fast approaching and they need to conclude their preseason before focusing on what is in front of them.
