One goal each from Kylian Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele saw France booked their place at the 2026 World Cup semi-final with a 2-0 victory against Morocco.

The Blues squad demonstrated the clinical edge that was needed as they played against a side who had enough numbers at the back who did not make it easy all through the match.

The encounter started with high intensity from both teams, as they fought for control in a packed Boston Stadium that had massive number of fans watching.

Morocco, looking to make history, relied on their trademark defensive organization, anchored by Yassine Bounou, who proved instrumental early on with some incredible saves.

The Moroccan goalkeeper was the early hero, denying France repeatedly, including a crucial save on a Kylian Mbappe penalty kick in the first half after a VAR intervention.

Despite the early pressure from Les Bleus, Morocco held firm, heading into the halftime break with the score deadlocked at 0-0.

The second half was a different ball game entirely, with fans from both nations creating a vibrant backdrop to what was arguably one of the most tactical halves of the tournament.

The deadlock was finally broken in the 60th minute. Kylian Mbappe, who had been a constant threat throughout the match, curled a magnificent strike past Bounou into the top corner, finally rewarding France’s persistence with a 1-0 scoreline.

The goal ignited the French attack, and just six minutes later, Ousmane Dembele doubled the lead. Mbappe provided the vision, laying off a perfect pass for Dembele, who slotted the ball home with his right foot to effectively put the result beyond reach.

Despite the second goal, the Frenchmen still did not hold back as they kept on pushing and hoping they could add more whole the Moroccans were left with no option than coming out to play.

While the scoreline suggests a comfortable play, Morocco was far from disgraced. The Atlas Lions fought valiantly, attempting to spark a comeback through the late stages of the game.

Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi and his defensive teammates remained organized, and the side continued to push forward even after the second goal.

However, France’s defensive line, led by William Saliba and Mike Maignan, remained disciplined, ensuring that Morocco’s attacking forays were kept at bay.

The match concluded 2-0, leaving Morocco to exit the tournament with their heads held high, as France on the other hand once again showing they are not match for the African side.

The is victory proved a lot in terms of quality from the Frenchmen as they continue their pursuit of a third World Cup trophy which they stand a better chance at winning.

Didier Deschamps’ side will now prepare for a high-stakes semifinal matchup against either Spain or Belgium, scheduled for next Tuesday in Arlington.

The performance shows the depth and quality of the French roster. Even in a match where they were pushed to their limits early on, the individual brilliance of stars like Mbappe and Dembele proved to be the difference-maker.

As the competition heats up, les blues remains a formidable favorite, balancing defensive stability with an explosive, match-winning attacking force that few teams in the world can contain.

All roads leads to the upcoming games which will shape up the semi-final round that will only contain seven more teams after France booked the first spot.
