His movement, composure, and intelligent positioning proved too much for the Wanderers’ defenders, turning a difficult evening into a memorable victory 6-4 for the London club.
Pedro’s outstanding performance will undoubtedly excite Premier League supporters, as he demonstrated exactly why the club invested in him. Another positive from the game was the display of several academy graduates and young prospects.
Satpayev announced himself with an impressive goal, while Jamie Gittens looked sharp after returning from injury. Dario Essugo also produced an encouraging midfield performance, contributing both defensively and offensively with an important goal.
Despite the victory, Alonso will not ignore Chelsea’s defensive shortcomings. The Blues conceded four goals against A-League opposition, with communication and positioning proving inconsistent throughout the match.
The central defensive partnership struggled under pressure, while the midfield occasionally failed to provide enough protection in front of the backline. Those issues will require attention before Chelsea faces stronger opponents later in pre-season.
