Atlético Madrid Dismisses Barcelona’s €100M Álvarez Swoop

Atletico Madrid has immediately made a decision concerning Barcelona offer of €100 million for Argentina striker, Julian Alvarez.

The La Liga Champions are doing everything possible to make sure they sign a top striker who will replace Robert Lewandowski.

Barcelona, eager to reshape their attacking line under Hansi Flick, launched a bold, nine-figure bid for the Argentine international early Friday morning.

Industry insiders, including Fabrizio Romano, confirmed that the proposal was a straight cash offer worth €100 million, devoid of any player swaps or performance-related add-ons.

He said: “Atletico Madrid are not intentioned to accept €100m as valuation to let Julián Álvarez go.

“Barcelona are prepared to return to the table soon, Julián’s camp already made clear to Atléti that he wants to leave.

For many clubs, such a massive valuation would be difficult to ignore. However, for Atlético Madrid, the offer was met with immediate frustration.

Reports suggest that the Rojiblancos are deeply dissatisfied not only with the valuation which falls short of their internal expectations, but also with the timing and the structure of the approach.

The response from the Metropolitano has been characteristically uncompromising. Following the circulation of the bid, club officials have been quick to push back against the narrative that Álvarez is available for a quick exit.

In a firm statement released through local media, the club explicitly denied the existence of any productive negotiations, labeling the relentless speculation as another lie.

Atlético leadership reiterated that their star forward remains under contract until 2030, protected by a massive release clause reported to be in the region of €500 million.

While the clubs lock horns, the narrative is complicated by reports that Julián Álvarez has signaled a desire to move on this summer, with Barcelona identified as his preferred destination.

Having played an integral role for Atlético, the Argentine forward now finds himself at the center of a tug-of-war between his current club’s desire to retain their marquee asset and his own ambitions for a new challenge.

Despite the public denials and the initial rejection, the transfer window rarely stays quiet for long. Barcelona, undeterred by the first no, is reportedly already recalibrating their strategy.

Rumors suggest that the Catalans are preparing a second, significantly improved package, potentially exceeding €135 million including variables, to test Atlético’s resolve. As the 2026 World Cup approaches, the pressure to finalize high-profile deals is intensifying.

While Atlético maintains a hard-line stance, demanding a valuation that reflects the market’s elite tier, Barcelona is clearly betting that a record-breaking financial commitment will be enough to pry the Argentine away.

For now, the Metropolitano remains closed for business, and the football world waits to see who will blink first in this high-stakes game of chess that involves Julian Alvarez.
