Calum McFarlane: We Want To Win Every Game

Chelsea interim coach Calum McFarlane had his press conference today ahead of his first game against Leeds United at Wembley Stadium for the Emirates FA Cup.

The former U21 coach was given the interim role after Liam Rosenior was sacked following a run of poor form, leading to Brighton and Hove Albion’s defeat.

Calum McFarlane is expected to quickly setup a team to take on Leeds United in an important semi-final match, which the fans are expecting a victory.

During the interim coach press conference, he had the opportunity to address a lot of things going on with the club and also give proper updates.

McFarlane talked more about the task at hand, which is to ensure they win every game as they come until the current season comes to an end.

He also talked about what it feels like inside the dressing room, which he confirmed the players are United in making sure they get back on track.

McFarlane said: “We’ve spoken to the group about the remaining games and what’s still to play for.

“From my perspective, the whole group are united in the fact that we want to try and win every single game from now to the end of the year.

“We’ll make it as simple as that and we’ll start that on Sunday. Again, the same thing I’m saying to you guys is what I’m saying to the players.

“Let’s just get the next three days right. Let’s make sure we’re ready for Leeds and make sure we’re performing well against Leeds, and we’ll go day by day on that.

The Chelsea interim coach went further in his press conference by confirming important team news ahead of their game against Leeds United.

He talked about Estevao’s injury while addressing the current situation with Cole Palmer and Joao Pedro, who were both absent in the loss against Brighton and Hove Albion.

McFarlane said: “Estevao, unfortunately, won’t play for us this season. He’s going to be out for a little bit of time.

“So, that’s really unfortunate, especially for someone so young and so talented. But we’re here to support him and be around him.

“Joao Pedro and Cole Palmer, they trained. They’re in a good place.

“We don’t know yet. So, we’ve got another day tomorrow where we’ll have a look at them and make a call after that.

Chelsea have a huge task at hand when they come up against Leeds United, who have been in good form lately.

Calum McFarlane will be hoping his second try as the club’s interim coach would be a good one following his first trial, which saw him play one game against Manchester City that ended 1-1.
