Michael Carrick has refused to get carried away by Manchester United FC’s resurgence but has not entirely dismissed the possibility of an unlikely Premier League title push, MySportDab Reports.

Since returning to the Old Trafford dugout in January following the departure of Ruben Amorim, Carrick has overseen a remarkable turnaround.

United have collected 23 points from his first nine top-flight matches (W7, D2 across both spells), equalling the best nine-game start by any manager in Premier League history, a record shared with Ange Postecoglou. The run has lifted the Red Devils into third place with 10 fixtures remaining.

United’s top-four hopes were strengthened after Liverpool’s late defeat to Wolves, while rivals Chelsea and Aston Villa are set to clash this week.

According to Opta’s projections, United hold a 66% chance of finishing in the top four, a figure that rises significantly with fifth place potentially enough for Champions League qualification.

Despite sitting 13 points behind leaders Arsenal, Carrick remains cautiously optimistic.

“You can’t rule anything out in football, but we’ve got to be realistic,” he said. “We’ve had a good run, but we’re not getting carried away. We have to keep winning and see where it takes us.”

Speculation continues over whether Carrick will be handed the role permanently if he secures Champions League football, with several high-profile names linked to the job.

For now, however, the former midfielder is focused solely on sustaining United’s momentum as they prepare for a crucial run-in.
