PSG have released statement confirming update on the club ‘s head coach Luis Enrique’s medical emergency, MySportDab reports.
Away from the touchline, Luis Enrique is understood to be a cyclist enthusiast and revels in the sports cum aerobic exercise on his free time.
On Friday, he unfortunately suffered an accident during the cycling and had to be hospitalized for emergency medical attention.
Details of the incident are still sketchy, but close sources have confirmed the former Barcelona boss suffered a grave injury in the process, fracturing his collar bone.
He was immediately attended to at the scene of the incident before being rushed to the hospital where he is expected to undergo further examination and then treatment.
PSG confirmed update on the sad incident via a statement on the club’s social media handles. The statement confirmed the extent of the injury and steps taken for his treatment.
“Following a cycling accident on Friday, Paris Saint-Germain head coach Luis Enrique was treated by the emergency services and will undergo surgery for a fractured collarbone.
”The club expresses its full support and wishes him a swift recovery. Further updates will be shared in due course,” the statement reads.
This incident is coming a week before PSG return to action in Ligue 1 against Lens after the international break.
It is still unclear whether Luis Enrique will recover before the match to return to the touchline. Meanwhile, Enrique’s assistants Rafel Pol Cabanellas and Guillem Hernandez Folguera will be expected to take charge of the team pending his return.
Enrique led PSG to back-to-back Ligue 1 titles and ended the club’s wait for the UEFA Champions League title.
