Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has sent a message to his strikers as United get ready for the 2025-26 season, MySportDab reports.
The Portuguese tactician took charge of United halfway into last season and the outcome was nothing to write home about.
Under his watch, the Red Devils recorded one of their poorest runs in the English top flight, winning just seven matches, drawing six, and losing 14.
This poor run of form saw the team slip to 15th on the table with 42 points – their lowest Premier League finish in decades.
While the dismal campaign saw pressure tanked up on Amorim, he was given the benefit of the doubt due to his short spell in the dugout.
However, next season will be an entirely different environment with his job certainly set to come under more scrutiny should the poor run of form continue.
Ahead of the make-or-break campaign next season, Amorim isn’t taking any chances with his players and wants nothing but the best from them.
Speaking after leading the team to a 4-1 victory over Bournemouth in their second match in the Premier League Summer Series in the United States, the former Sporting manager revealed the ‘most important thing’ he wants from his strikers.
According to him, he wants his strikers to ‘work really well, improve and help the team.’
“The most important thing is that the strikers who are already here are working really well, improving and helping the team in that way. That’s the most important thing,” he said.
Amorim also went on to make his feelings clear on Rasmus Hojlund, revealing he is happy with the forward.
However, he kept his audience in the dark on the player’s future at the club amid reports of his possible transfer exit this summer.
“I’m really happy with Rasmus [Højlund]. I don’t know what is going to happen until the end of the market,” he added.
Rasmus Hojlund, Patrick Dorgu, Amad Diallo, and Ethan Williams all found the back of the net as United made it two wins in Summer Series matches against Bournemouth.
Amorim will hope to continue on winning ways with his players improving as well when they take on Everton in their next match on Sunday.
