Paul Pogba was down to tears as Monaco officially announced him as the club’s newest addition this summer, MySportDab reports.
Flanked by the club’s two officials, the French footballing sensation got welled up with emotion and wake up with a pat to the back to pen down a contract with the Ligue 1 giants (Video available at the end of this post)
Notably, the former Juventus midfielder’s emotion-laden signing is not a surprise. The 33-year-old saw his career plummet to the brink after he was indicted for doping and banned from the sports.
Initially slammed with the maximum four-year sentence by the Italian Antidoping Tribunal, he appealed the judgment to the Court of Arbitration for Sports and had it slashed to 18 months.
Towards the expiration of the 18-month ban, Monaco was understood to be on his heels to sign him back to the game.
And today, the French giants have secured his services in what could be seen as a big moment for Pogba and his career.
Returning to his game after the ordeals he couldn’t help but shed tears of joy penning down a new contract with the club.
MySportDab understands he has signed a two-year contract with the club till 2027 and is set for a new chapter with the Ligue 1 giants.
Notably, we could also be seeing the former Man United midfielder back in Champions League football barring injuries which also mangled his career as Monaco had qualified for the competition.
As confirmed by the club, he will don the club’s number eight shirt and is set for what is expected to be a groundbreaking new beginning.
Pogba still holds a commanding influence in the game and is regarded as one of the finest box-to-box midfielders in the world.
After this recent breakthrough, he hopes to possibly return to French national team and possibly join Les Bleus for the 2026 World Cup.
