Liverpool have completed the signing of Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth, MySportDab reports.
The Reds secured the terrific young defender for £40million in another big addition to their defense.
Kerkez alongside his former teammates at Bournemouth Dean Huijsen and Illia Zarbanyi were key to Bournemouth’s improved performances in the just-concluded 2024-25 Premier League season.
Their stellar performances saw them emerge as priority targets for top clubs in Europe with the likes of Real Madrid, PSG, Chelsea, Man United linked to the fast-rising youngsters.
We reported earlier Real Madrid had poached Dean Huijsen from the Cherries with the Spaniard becoming the first of the trio to exit the Dorset-based outfit.
We also understand PSG have ramped up their attempts to sign Zarbanyi and have had their £55milllion for the player rejected already.
Zarbanyi could now be the last of the defensive trio to leave Bournemouth as Liverpool have now completed their move for Milos Kerkez.
At the time of filing this report, Kerkez has reportedly completed his Liverpool medical and signed contract as the club’s new player with an official statement expected from the Merseyside to that effect.
The Hungarian sensation is now the second elite-level defender to join Liverpool’s ranks this summer. Recall the Reds first signed Dutch right-back Jeremy Frimpong to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold, who left on a free transfer to Real Madrid.
Liverpool’s signing of Milos Kerkez is not a surprise given their manager Arne Slot’s ongoing overhaul of his defense options.
They have lost Jarell Quansah to Bayer Leverkusen with another wing-back option Robertson and Gomes all linked to transfer exits this summer.
Milos Kerkez is expected to step into this expected gaps and kick off his Reds’ career as a first-team regular.
According to The Athletic, Kerkez has committed to a five-year contract with the Reds till 2030 and is expected to play in critical role in the team next season.
