Salah Headlines Premier League Awards Shortlist as Liverpool Dominate

Mohamed Salah leads the list of nominees for the 2024/25 Premier League Player of the Season award after guiding Liverpool to the title under new boss Arne Slot, MySportDab Report.

The Egyptian is on the verge of equalling the all-time record for combined goals and assists in a single campaign (47), currently held by Andrew Cole (1993-94) and Alan Shearer (1994-95).

With 28 goals and 18 assists, Salah also broke the 38-game record last month and tops both scoring and assist charts this season. If he finishes top in both, it will be only the fifth time in Premier League history a player has done so — Salah also achieved the feat in 2021-22.

Salah is joined on the eight-man shortlist by teammates Ryan Gravenberch and Virgil van Dijk, following a dominant title run that saw Liverpool crowned champions with four games to spare. Only three teams have ever done it earlier.

Nottingham Forest, surprisingly in the Champions League hunt, have two representatives — striker Chris Wood, who has scored 20 goals, and Morgan Gibbs-White, who has delivered six goals and eight assists in an impressive campaign.

Arsenal’s Declan Rice is nominated after producing his best attacking season yet, while Newcastle’s Alexander Isak (23 goals) and Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo (18 goals) round out the list.

Gravenberch also features on the Young Player of the Season shortlist, which includes Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen — reportedly bound for Real Madrid — and last year’s winner Cole Palmer. Ipswich striker Liam Delap becomes the first nominee from a relegated side, while Anthony Elanga (Forest), William Saliba (Arsenal), Morgan Rogers (Villa), and Joao Pedro (Brighton) are all in the mix.

Saliba has been central to Arsenal’s defensive strength, with a league-best 79.5% one-on-one success rate and 12 clean sheets.
