Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has made his feelings clear on struggling forward Rasmus Hojlund, MySportDab reports.
Amorim has endured a horrific eight-month spell as United manager since joining from Sporting Lisbon.
Under his watch, United have dropped to their worst position in the Premier League in the runs, sitting 16th in the rankings with 39 points.
He has managed just six wins, losing or drawing 26 matches. By all ramifications, the Red Devils have worsened off under the former Sporting Lisbon boss.
While this has piled up pressure on the Portuguese tactician, fingers have also been pointed on the underwhelming performances of some players such as Rasmus Hojlund.
The £72million signing from Atalanta hasn’t lived up to the bidding since joining from Serie A. This season, he has managed four goals in 31 Premier League appearances.
Speaking after United’s 1-0 loss to Chelsea last night, Amorim made his feelings clear on the Danish forward.
While commending the player for his gradual improvement, he maintained the 22-year-old has to do more.
“I’m happy with Højlund. But the way he runs, he fights for every ball”.
“He loses a lot of duels, wins some duels. He needs to improve the connection, but he’s improving. He just needs to continue to work hard,” he said.
Hojlund has been mentioned among potential names to exit Man United this summer as Amorim double down on his planned overhaul.
He has been linked with a move to Fenerbache with former United boss Jose Mourinho reportedly interested in signing.
However, his future remains uncertain for now and is largely dependent on his suitability in Amorim’s squad plans.
