Real Madrid are reportedly behind the imminent collapse of the deal between Carlo Ancelotti and Brazil for the Selecao’s vacant national team managerial role, MySportDab reports.
Ancelotti and Brazil football delegation converged in London two days ago and thrashed out details of the deal to have the veteran football manager replace Dorivial Junior as Brazil’s national team’s new manager.
A Verbal agreement on salary and duration of the contract was reached with Ancelotti ready to put pen to paper for the new offer.
However, in a major twist to the process, Marca reported that the Real Madrid helmsman has turned down the offer and informed Brazil Football Federation president Ednaldo Rodrigues of the decision.
Ancelotti’s shock move has been linked to the discrepancy between the 65-year-old and Brazil football chiefs on when he should resume with the Selecao as their new boss.
Now, Relevo has confirmed Real Madrid played a big role in the fallout. According to the Spanish outlet, Brazil didn’t inform the La Liga and European champions of their move to sign their manager.
Meanwhile, the club had elaborate plans to send off Ancelotti and wasn’t ready to lose him at the end of the season immediately. Moreover, they don’t want to pay any exit fee should Ancelotti leave in June and are also reportedly intent on keeping him till after the FIFA Club World Cup.
On the other hand, Brazil doesn’t want to wait till after the FIFA Club World Cup when Ancelotti could leave without Madrid footing an exit fee.
Hence, the club have moved to block the exit while Brazil are now scouring for alternative options, with Portuguese and Al-Hilal’s manager Jorge Jesus a priority target.
