The all-time leading scorer entered the game one shy of the mark after scoring 17 points against the Clippers and got to work quickly making history.
The 40-year-old veteran accepted a pass from Luka Dončić and draineda effortless 25-foot three-pointer, sending the crowd into a frenzy as he advanced to 50,002 points.
The league’s all-time leading scorer, James broke Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s long-standing record of 38,387 regular-season points, set in 2023, a record that had stood for almost 40 years.
His newest milestone stretches out his lead, placing him almost 6,000 points ahead of Abdul-Jabbar’s count of 44,149.
Behind James on the all-time career scoring list are Karl Malone (41,689 points), the late Kobe Bryant (39,283) and Michael Jordan (38,279).
Among active players, only Kevin Durant is anywhere in the neighborhood, and he’s all the way back at just surpassing 35,000 points.
Despite experiencing some criticism during his early years, James has never given the haters a chance to come after him in his old age, and at 40 years old, he somehow continues to dominate in his 22nd NBA season.
