He was born October 13, 2001, in Yokosuka, Kanagawa, Prefecture, Japan; he was living there with his mother since he was a kid.

These great performances made him lead all the freshmen scoring with 23 points per game and a reasonable average of rebounds and assists per game and he was named to the First Team All-SEC.
Thomas was then declared for the 2021 NBA draft on April 15, 2021, and also eligible for going to his college team.
He became professional in his career in 2021 when he was selected with the 27th pick in the 2021 NBA draft by the Brooklyn Nets, and his name was also included in the roaster to play in the 2021 NBA summer league.
