NBA Trade Deadline Madness: Bucks Trade for Kuzma, Warriors Get Butler

Teams around the NBA are pulling out all the stops to reinvent their rosters for the rest of the season as the trade deadline approaches. The Milwaukee Bucks, Golden State Warriors and a handful of other franchises made major trades on Wednesday that could alter the balance of power in both conferences, MySportDab Reports.

Kuzma See Above the Cut in High-Stakes Deal Surface

In a deal that also sent Patrick Baldwin and draft picks, the Milwaukee Bucks traded All-Star forward Khris Middleton (33) to the Washington Wizards for Kyle Kuzma (29). Milwaukee traded a 2025 NBA Draft second-round pick, and Washington got guard AJ Johnson, plus a 2028 first-round pick swap.

Kuzma signed with Milwaukee, who is 26-22 and on a three-game losing streak, to help shore up the forward rotation. This season, Kuzma is averaging 15.2 points, 5.8 boards and 2.5 assists. Middleton, an essential part of the Bucks’ 2021 championship run, lands on a rebuilding Wizards team after injuries delayed his season debut until Dec. 6.

Middleton averages 16.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game for his career. This trade represents a new path forward for the Milwaukee franchise as they look to get back into the playoff picture.

Warriors Make Splash in Jimmy Butler Acquisition

The Golden State Warriors acquired star forward Jimmy Butler (35) in a blockbuster five-team deal with the Miami Heat. The six-time All-Star agreed to a two-year, $121 million extension with his Warriors team through the 2026-27 season.

The complete trade details are as follows:

Warriors trade: Jimmy Butler

Heat get: Andrew Wiggins, P.J. Tucker and a protected first round pick

Jazz receive: Dennis Schroder

Raptors get: Kyle Anderson (to be finalized)

Pistons get: Lindy Waters III, Josh Richardson

Butler and his 17.0 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game this season add veteran leadership and playoff experience to a Warriors team currently sitting in 10th place in the Western Conference with a 25-24 record. The trade also concludes a turbulent era for Butler in Miami, in which off-court issues had spoiled his final months.

And the Heat get Andrew Wiggins (17.6 PPG) as the most valuable piece of the return while the Jazz get Dennis Schroder (10.6 PPG). The deal is rounded out by minor roster tweaks by the Raptors and Pistons.

Other Notable Trades

The Sacramento Kings traded for Wizards center Jonas Valanciunas (32), sending Wizards forward Sidy Cissoko and two second-round picks. Valanciunas gives a Kings team that sits eighth in the Western Conference more depth behind star Domantas Sabonis.

The Oklahoma City Thunder also added German center Daniel Theis (32), obtaining him and a 2031 second-round pick from the New Orleans Pelicans. Theis, a seven-teamer over eight seasons, offers but temporary frontcourt stability as OKC waits for young stud Chet Holmgren’s return from injury.

League-Wide Implications

With Thursday’s trade deadline approaching, these are moves that show the need for teams to fortify their rosters. With stars being linked by rumors to names like Kevin Durant, the NBA could potentially shift in even greater ways before the dust settles.
