Real Madrid have confirmed a worrying update on Kylian Mbappe’s injury, MySportDab reports.

The French footballing sensation was forced off the club’s 3-2 La Liga win over Alaves with a thigh injury on Tuesday, September 24, 2024.

Real Madrid statement confirming the injury situation reads;

“After the tests carried out today on our player Kylian Mbappe by the Real Madrid medical team, he has been diagnosed with an injury to the (left thigh).”

The statement did not disclose the timeline for Kylian Mbappe’s return. However, sources close to the club confirm the player is expected to miss three weeks of action.

This means he will not be in action in the highly-anticipated La Liga clash against cross-city and domestic rivals Atletico Madrid at the weekend.

Other matches he will miss include midweek Champions League away fixture against Lille, La Liga home clash against Villarreal, and away match against Celta Vigo.

The injury is likely to be able big blow for Los Blancos, who have relied heavily on the forward to recently.

Mbappe scored his fifth La Liga goal in the 3-2 win over Alaves and it was his fifth strike in five consecutive games for the club since he broke his duck.

The former PSG star joined the club as a free agent after a bedraggled transfer saga that nearly grounded his career.

After a three-match deadlock, he was beginning to pick up pace in the Spanish top flight but has now suffered a setback with four matches to be missed.

Meanwhile, his heroics has helped Real Madrid climb up to second on the La Liga table with 17 points from 6 games, a point behind Barcelona, who have a game in hand.
