Manchester City Break Silence On Rodri Injury, Confirm Update

Manchester City have finally broken silence on Rodri’s injury, MySportDab reports.

The 26-year-old picked up a hamstring issue during Arsenal’s 2-2 draw with Manchester City at the weekend.

I’m footage that made the rounds on social media, Rodri was seen in Barcelona hospital for medical diagnosis after the injury.

Meanwhile, reports emerged he has been ruled out of the rest of the season due to the injury.

Manchester City were yet to confirm an update on the situation, with rival reports that the player may not be ruled out for the season.

Now, an official club statement from the Premier League giants has confirmed the injury of the Spaniard.

The statement, made available on the club’s website, reads:

“Manchester City FC can confirm that Rodri has suffered a ligament injury to his right knee.

“The injury was sustained during the first half of this weekend’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal in the Premier League.

“The midfielder travelled to Spain to seek specialist consultation this week, following initial tests in Manchester.

“Assessment remains ongoing to ascertain the full extent of the injury and expected prognosis. Everyone at the Club wishes him a speedy recovery.”

Rodri’s injury will be a big blow for Manchester City who have seen the player play a crucial role in the team’s domestic and European successes.

Since joining the club in 2019, he has been pivotal to the club’s successes. Statistics show Manchester City has won 74% of their matches when he is playing and managess 64% when he is not.

Rodri’s most notable performance for City was in the 2022-23 UEFA Champions League final in which he scored the winning goal to break the club’s deadlock at the European stage.

He won the Premier League, including the 2024 Euros and is the leading nominee for the 2024 Ballon d’Or awards.
