Cristiano Ronaldo broke down in tears after Al-Nassr lost the 2024 Saudi King’s Cup to Al-Hilal, MySportDab reports.

The Manchester United and Real Madrid legend could not hold it and was left inconsolable after his side missed out of the chance to end the season on a high note.

The seething clash at the King Abdullah Sports City saw Al-Hilal scared the Saudi Pro League runners-up with a 7th-minute goal from former Premier League and Fulham forward Aleksander Mitrovic.

Battling to claw their charges back into the game, Ronaldo came close severally to finding an equaliser but was denied by former Sevilla goalkeeper and Morocco international Yaccine Bounou.

One of the closest moments the Portuguese came to nailing home the equaliser was when he let fly on the ball with an incredible bicycle kick. Bounou was totally at a loss but the ball hit the woodwork and bounced back.

After several attempts, Al-Dawsari finally scored the equaliser for Al-Nassr two minutes before the regulation time and the game was dragged to extra time and then to penalties.

In the shootouts, Al-Nassr lost 5-4, giving away the Saudi King’s Cup trophy to Al-Hilal, who also beat them to the 2023-24 Saudi Pro League title.

The defeat means Cristiano Ronaldo’s wait for his maiden trophy with Al-Nassr continues despite his remarkable individual campaign with the club.

After the shootouts, the footballing icon was inconsolable as he breaks down in tears and was surrounded by teammates and staff.

Ronaldo ended the 2023-24 Saudi Pro League season as the topscorer, and went on to break the record for the most number of goals in a single season by a player after netting 35 league goals.
