Casemiro To Be Dropped In FA Cup Final Vs Man City [See Why]

Manchester United midfielder Casemiro could be dropped in United’s FA Cup final clash today, MySportDab reports.

Erik ten Hag will have a chance to turn a corner away from United’s disastrous 2023/24 Premier League campaign if the Red Devils can take down their dominant cross-city rivals at Wembley.

The former Pep Guardiola protege will contest the Spaniard’s attempt to record his fifth double with Manchester City since joining the club in 2016.

Ahead of the game, sources close to the Man United dressing room say Erik ten Hag is considering dropping one of his key players Casemiro from the game.

In a report confirmed by The Mail, the Dutchman has begun the subtle change to the expected lineup against City by preferring Sofyan Amrabat in the midfield during training sessions instead of the Brazilian.

The alteration has been linked to ten Hag’s bold reshuffle of his lineup and roles in the last six Premier League matches before the 2023/24 campaign ended.

Due to the niggling injury crisis that nearly crippled United’s defensive area, Erik ten Hag opted to use Casemiro as a central defender, and it went awful for the Brazil international, especially at Selhurst Park when United were hammered 4-0 by the revamped Olivier Glasner-led Crystal Palace.

While Casemiro endured a torrid run on his defensive shift in the run-ins, Sofyan Amrabat seemed to have improved his game immensely in the midfield.

Consequently, Erik ten Hag is reportedly set to use Sofyan Amrabat in the defensive midfield role against City – a reshuffle that has been confirmed by his choices in the training sessions ahead of the game.

Also, Casemiro’s potential omission from the starting lineup at Wembley has been linked to the return of defensive pair Raphael Varane and Lisandro, who will return to their roles in the clash.
