Thomas Tuchel has reacted to Bayern Munich fans’ petitioning of the club’s hierarchy to keep him as manager next season, MySportDab reports.

Tuchel signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with Bayern Munich in 2023 but is barely 12 months before the club moved to end their agreement and terminate the contract at the end of the season.

A mid-season capitulation that saw the Bavarians derail on the Bundesliga title race prompted the club to announce their decision to part ways with Tuchel at the end of the season.

High-profile managerial shortlists were named to replace Tuchel in the summer with wonder-working Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso leading the list.

However, the club fell out in their move for Alonso when the Bayer Leverkusen boss announced his decision continue with the Bundesliga champions next season.

Former manager Julian Nagelsmann was also linked to the job but they were dealt another blow as the 39-year-old decided to extend his contract with Germany national team.

Former Man United caretaker manager Ralf Rangnick has now emerged as top candidate to replace Tuchel.

The Austria national team manager confirmed he has been contacted by Bayern but are yet to reach an agreement.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, April 23, disgruntled Bayern Munich fans took to change.org to start a petition, asking the club officials to retain Thomas Tuchel as the club’s manager next season and abort the mission to bring in Ralf Rangnick.

Reacting to the fans’ petition, Thomas Tuchel said it was pleasant the fans want him to stay but added he is focused on his job.

“For me this is a pleasant topic that people want to keep me here. But it has no priority for me”.

“I don’t want to take it as an excuse or distraction. We are in full focus on the final games”.

It has yet to be determined whether Bayern Munich will be forced to abandon their decision to sack Tuchel at end of the season due to the petition.
