Manchester United legend and Al-Nassr forward Cristiano Ronaldo has won his wage dispute case against his former club Juventus, MySportDab reports.

The Real Madrid legend crossed swords with the Serie A outfit in a seething legal battle over a dragging wage dispute.

The genesis of the fallout has been traced to 2019 when the world’s major institutions came under the scorching rays of COVID-19.

Major institutional forces and cultural life slowed down. Footballing activities were hit with top football bodies sanctioning limited stadium attendance to total shutdown in extreme cases

The setback took a toll on the financial fortunes of clubs, hence some clubs failed on their wage obligations to their players.

Juventus were not left out. The Old Ladies made subtle moves to broker agreements with their players to defer their payment due to the effect of the pandemic.

Cristiano Ronaldo, who was then playing for the Serie A outfit, and other Juve players agreed to defer their wages due to the effect of the pandemic.

In 2021, Cristiano Ronaldo left Juventus and returned to Manchester United with reports Juventus were yet to pay his four-month deferred wages which amounted to £17m.

Ronaldo spent a season-and-a-half at Manchester United before leaving for Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia in 2022 with the deferred wages yet to be paid, as per close sources.

Meanwhile, insiders revealed the Portuguese was making behind-closed-door moves to sort out the wage dispute with the Old Ladies, all to no avail.

In September 2023, he took legal action as the last resort and now has won the case, as per Gazzetta.

Gazzetta reports the Italian Court of Arbitration have ordered both parties to share responsibility in the wage dispute with Juventus being asked to pay half £8.3m while Cristiano Ronaldo will forfeit £8.7m.

The ruling of the court has been seen as a partial win for Cristiano Ronaldo although the Al-Nassr forward must have pursued his case for justice’s sake not necessarily for the money.

The 39-year-old, who has a few months left on his Al-Nassr contract is among the highest-paid football athletes in the world with a weekly wage of £3.4m.
