Manchester United have poached another high-profile football administrator Jason Wilcox from Championship side Southampton, MySportDab reports.

Wilcox, 53, had been on the radar of Manchester United’s new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who is head-on with his overhaul in the club’s football administrative cadre.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe identified the Bolton-born English football veteran as a savant hand to join the new team in charge of United footballing operations following his antecedents in the sport.

Jason came to the limelight in 2012 when he joined Manchester City as an interim academy coach before being promoted to U18 coach. Following his impressive shift with the club, he was promoted to Academy director in 2017 – a role he held for six years before leaving for Southampton in 2023.

He has been just nine months with Southampton as technical director and was instrumental to the club’s push for promotion to the English topflight before courting the attention of Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Southampton initially objected to Manchester United’s move for Jason but were hand-tied as Wilcox wanted the move to happen.

We reported earlier Wilcox opted to resign from his role as Southampton technical director in pursuant of an exit to Manchester United as the Old Trafford outfit beckons for his services.

However, it is understood scores have been settled with Manchester United finally reaching an agreement with Southampton to sign Wilcox.

United Club statement announcing the signing of Wilcox reads;

“Jason Wilcox has joined Manchester United as Technical Director with immediate effect.

“He will work with all technical areas of the football department to achieve the highest standards of performance.”

Southampton also issued a statement confirming the deal.

“Southampton Football Club can today confirm that it has reluctantly agreed to allow Director of Football Jason Wilcox to join Manchester United, having reached an agreement with the Premier League side on an acceptable compensation fee,” the Saints club statement reads.

Jaso Wilcox is set to start work at Old Trafford on Monday, April 22 with details of his United contract yet to be disclosed.
