Bayer Leverkusen took their Bundesliga title celebrations to the streets of Leverkusen after their 5-0 victory over Werder Bremen, MySportDab reports.

Xabi Alonso led the Die Werkself to their first-ever Bundesliga title, ending Bayern Munich’s dominance of the elite club competition in Germany.

Right from the stadium, down to the dressing room, and then to the streets, joyous scenes and wild jubilations erupted.

Bayer Leverkusen rolled the coveted club trophy on a team bus across the streets of North Rhine-Wesphalia to celebrate the triumph with fans, and it was crazy scenes all the way.

A sea of heads crowded the streets, serenading the team bus as it rolled through the crowd.

Permeated with spates of fireworks, a loud roar of cheers and shouts rent the air as the elated fans milled out in thousands to witness the making of history in German football.

Footages shared in this post show fans trying to get as close as possible to the slowly moving vehicle that conveyed the players and the trophy.

Security agents were constantly forced to steer the fans away from the vehicle but the crowd numbers kept rising as the procession continued.

Donning the black and red colors of the club, the entire city of Leverkusen was painted red.

It was an incredible scene to behold – one tellingly underscoring the import of the breakthrough moment for the club and the fans.

Bayer Leverkusen first made their attempt to win the German topflight in 1997 when they finished as runners-up. Since then, they have finished as runners-up five times but could not win the title.

They were the only club in the German topflight that have finished runners-up five times without winning the title.

With a chance to change the narrative and rewrite history, they finally did it in style with an astonishing 16-point gap – a feat that deserved the pomp and celebrations that followed.
