Manchester United Reopen Talks For Dan Ashworth

Manchester United are not giving in on their move for Dan Ashworth, MySportDab reports.

United have reportedly reopened talks with Newcastle United for the highly-rated football administrator.

Dan Ashworth, 46, has been a top target for Manchester United new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe to join the Manchester United project.

Ashworth had agreed terms with Manchester United but Newcastle United were refused a deal with United to allow Ashworth leave.

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe raised concerns Dan Ashworth’s imminent Newcastle United exit could be a big blow to the club as he has access to the club’s exclusive tactical information and other key details.

Hours after Eddie Howe’s comment, Newcastle United placed Dan Ashworth on gardening leave to deter Manchester United’s interest in the 46-year-old.

This means United would not sign Dan Ashworth until 2026 when the gardening leave expires or they pay a significantly ‘higher compensation’ before a deal could be brokered.

In his maiden media conference after completing his Man United takeover, Sir Jim Ratcliffe described Newcastle United’s move on Dan Ashworth as ‘absurd and silly.’

Despite a strong interest on Dan Ashworth, it was thought United would bow out of the move due to Sir Jim’s comment. But the reverse is now the case.

As per Fabrizio Romano, United are still pushing for a deal for Dan Ashworth and have reopen talks for the official.

They are hoping to agree terms of compensation with Newcastle United for Ashworth in the coming days to bring him to Old Trafford.
