Real Madrid have defeated Getafe at the Coliseum Stadium to go top of the La Liga table, MySportDab reports.
It was a local derby on the south side of Spain’s capital as Real Madrid looked to go top of the La Liga table with a win over Getafe.
Real Madrid started on the front foot as the match kicked off pushing hard against the hosts to take the lead.
Getafe were forced into their half as the La Liga title hopefuls mounted heavy pressure. The visitors dominated every aspect of the game and it was just a matter of time before they took a deserved lead.
In the 14th minute, after being denied by a series of spectacular performances by Getafe’s defense, Joselu finally fired Real Madrid into the lead.
Getafe attempted to mount a response but could level up with the Los Blancos’ dominant display.
The first half ended with the visitors leading the hosts by a lone goal, thanks to Joselu’s goal.
Real Madrid continued with their dominant display in the second half but met a stiffer opposition by a determined Getafe, who struck the woodwork twice in search of an equaliser.
In the 54th minute, the Los Blancos’ ascendancy paid off again with Joselu scoring again to bag his brace and secure the lead.
Trailing by two goals, Getafe committed more bodies forward desperately pushing for a lifeline goal.
The game took on a frantic pace as the two sides battled with a nervy final minute with Real Madrid edging close to victory.
Despite a far stronger display against the visitors, Getafe failed to find the back of the net as Real Madrid ran out with a 2-0 victory to overtake Girona on top of the La Liga table.
