Chelsea may lose highly-rated Argentine midfielder Enzo Fernandez just over a year into his contract with the club, MySportDab reports.

According to footballtransfers.com, Enzo Fernandez is set to leave the club with his agent Uriel Perez already exploring possible new options for the player.

The report adds Perez, who has been a long-time representative of the 2022 World Cup winner, has began talks with other clubs who may be interested in signing the player.

We reported earlier some top Chelsea players have regretted signing long-term contracts with the club following the club’s dragging Premier League misfortunes.

Enzo Fernandez led the list of high-profile Chelsea signings who penned down a maximum eight-and-a-half-year contract with the club after joining on the then record transfer fee of €121m from Benfica.

He has played 49 games for the club, managing just five goals. Mauricio Pochettino made it clear he is yet to get enough from the player as he needed a good partnership between him and Moises Caicedo in the midfield.

Speaking after Chelsea’s 2-0 defeat to Everton in the Premier League, Pochettino said the Argentina midfield sensation needs to improve his relationship with Caicedo.

“The relationship between them needs to improve of course, between them and individually also. They are young, the expectation is massive when you arrive.”

Enzo Fernandez is just over a year into his Chelsea contract. He committed to eight-and-a-half-years deal with the Blues till 2031 with a 2032 option.

The 2032 option has been triggered already by the club to extend his stay at the club till 2032.

As things stand, Chelsea could be forced to part ways with the player should he insist on leaving the club as reported.

Elsewhere, Mykhailo Mudryk is also said to have asked to leave the club on loan in January due to lack of game time but his plea was reportedly turned down by the club.
