The Egyptian Football Federation have confirmed an update on the injury situation of Mo Salah following a medical assessment, MySportDab reports.
Salah picked up a knee issue in Egypt’s 2-2 draw with Ghana in their second AFCON fixture in Group B.
Mohamed Kudus fired the Black Stars of Ghana in front but were pegged back by the Pharaohs. Kudus came up clutch again for the Black Stars but a resilient Egyptian side, who needed to avoid defeat in the clash, fought back to level the scores again.
The match ended 2-2 after the final whistle with both sides sharing a point apiece but it was a dark game for Pharaohs.
Liverpool legend and prolific winger Mohamed Salah was sidelined in the game just before the end of the first half.
Salah suffered a hamstring issue and was hurled off the pitch further crashing the Pharaoh’s game plan.
Salah’s injury has been a cause for concern for Egypt, including his club Liverpool, who are overly reliant on the attacker for the Reds’ Premier League title dreams this season.
Now, a report by Egypt Football Federation, shared by Fabrizio Romano has cleared the air on the state of Salah’s injury.
The report confirms, that Salah has been ruled of Egypt’s last Group B fixture against Cape Verde and will also miss their round of 16 clash should the team qualify for the next round of the tournament.
The report reads;
Egyptian Football Federation announces the injury of Mohamed Salah with a strain in the hamstring muscle. It will cost him to miss two matches in the Africa Cup of Nations against Cape Verde and the round of 16 in case of qualification.”

Salah scored the last kick of the game against Mozambique in Egypt’s AFCON opener, converting from a spot-kick to salvage a draw for the Pharaohs. He will be hoping to return to full fitness soon to resume action with the Pharaohs.
