Mohamed Salah was reduced to tears as Egypt lost in the 2021 AFCON Final on Saturday night, MySportDab reports.

Despite having their best player of all-time, Egypt failed to increase their AFCON trophy count this year.

The Egyptians lost in their third shootout in four knockout matches as Senegal won in Sunday’s final.

Egypt barely made it past Ivory Coast and Cameroon to reach the final with poor performance.

In the final, Salah and his teammates failed to impress during the match.

They barely got attacks and Senegal did all of the job throughout the match.

Egypt could have gone behind found in the first 10 minutes if had Gabaski did not save Sadio Mane’s penalty.

Senegal and Egypt goalkeepers performed well, making numerous saves during the match.

Goalkeeper Edouard Mendy saved a penalty from Mohanad Lasheenin and that gave Mane the 2021 AFCON for Senegal.

Senegal had numerous opportunities to score in the final but failed to take any of them until the penalty shootout.

As Mane scored to win for Senegal, Salah was left tears as Egypt lost.

The Liverpool winger will be 32 years old when the 2023 AFCON is played in Ivory Coast.

Salah is determined to win AFRICA’s greatest honour for his country before his retirement as a footballer.

Before AFCON, Salah said that lifting the AFCON trophy would surpass any other trophy he has won at club level.
