Liverpool have defeated Burnley in Turf Moor to go top of the Premier League table, MySportDab reports.

After settling for a dramatic 1-1 draw with Arsenal in their last game, the Merseyside club needed a win against Burnley to overtake Arsenal at the Premier League top but hopes the Gunners will slip against West Ham on Wednesday.

The Reds started the game on the front foot dominating proceedings, and pushing to take the lead.

In the 6th minute, Darwin Nunez handed the away side the lead after a marathon of pressure.

Despite taking the lead, the Reds continue on their dominant display, and came across series of chances but could not add to the tally before the first half break.

In the second half, it was still the Premier League title hopefuls still dominating proceedings. Burnley did little to stage a formidable response.

The game dragged on with both sides struggling to find the back of the net in the second half. With few minutes left to play, Diogo Jota finally doubled the lead for Liverpool at the end of regulation time to make it 2-0.

The match ended with the Reds grabbing a deserved 2-0 win to run out with all 3 points after the final whistle.

With the victory, Arsenal have now lost their place at the summit as the Reds go top with 42 points but have now played one game more.

Arsenal will take on West Ham on Wednesday and will hope to seal a win to return to the top spot.
