After finally clearing his name of rape and assault charges, Benjamin Mendy is ready to take on his former club Manchester City, MySportDab reports.

The French footballer, who is now plying his trade with French side Lorient, has slammed Manchester City with a lawsuit worth millions of pounds.

Recall Benjamin Mendy saw his career at Manchester City literally come to an end when a 24-year-old woman leveled rape and assault charges against him.

According to the alleged victim, Benjamin Mendy assaulted and rape her in October 2023 at his Cheshire home in Manchester.

Following the allegations, Mendy was arrested and prosecuted by UK authorities on counts of rape, attempted rape and assault.

The former Manchester City star battled to clear his name with multiple women coming out to add to the weight of the allegations.

After a dragging legal tussle, Mendy finally came out unscathed but was down tears as he walked off the Chester Crown Court as a free man.

His career has far gone in the process but he was determined to return to his game but this time not England.

After apparently settling for a fresh challenge in French Ligue 1, Mendy has readied his legal arsenal for a what could be dragging legal tussle with Manchester City.

According to Sky Sport, Mendy has slammed Manchester City with a lawsuit asking for millions of pounds of compensation.

Mendy’s contract with Manchester City expired in June 2023 but reports have it that Manchester City stopped paying his £100,000 weekly wage as early as September 2021 after his arrest and prosecution.

Mendy is charging the Premier League and European champions to court for ‘unathorised deductions to his wages’ while he was facing trial.

He is wants the club to pay all his wages from September 2021 when they stopped paying to June 2023 when his contract expired.

Mendy’s lawyer Nick De Marco said to Sky;

“Manchester City FC failed to pay Mr Mendy any wages at all from September 2021, following Mr Mendy being charged with various offences all of which he was subsequently acquitted of, until the end of his contract in June 2023. The claim will come before an Employment Tribunal.”

Mendy joined Manchester City from Monaco in 2017 for £52m as the most expensive Premier League defender then.

During his trial, he had to sell his Cheshire mansion to avoid bankruptcy.

According to reports, the backlog of salary arrears which Manchester City will pay the French footballer is up to £10m.
