Greenwood’s effort had cancelled out Borja Mayoral’s early opener, but Celta twice hit back through Jonathan Bamba and Jorgen Strand Larsen.

Getafe had to muddle through the game with a man down as Domingos Duarte was dismissed in the first half for two yellow-card offences.

However, Getafe were able to leave with a point after the game and are 11th on the Laliga table with 10 points.

Greenwood’s goal came in his fifth match for the Madrid-based outfit and he took to Instagram on Monday to express his emotions

‘Happy to score my first goal for Getafe,’ he wrote earlier.

Greenwood’s post has so far collated over one million likes on Instagram and it is the second time he has spoken since he joined Getafe on loan from Manchester United.

Manchester United helped Mason Greenwood resettled for a new start to his career after he was exiled from United squad for 18 months following allegations of sexual assault and coercive behavior by his partner.

He was arrested and granted bail twice before he finally regain his freedom after charges against him were dropped.

Manchester United cleared him of all charges after the club’s internal investigation but could nor allow him back to the squad due to mounting pressure.

The club then opted to help him restart his career away from Old Trafford through the deadline loan deal with Getafe.

Greenwood will be back to Manchester United next season as his loan deal with Getafe is for a season.
