Iran have finally addressed reports that Cristiano Ronaldo is facing a 99 Lashes sentence for a sex-related scandal, MySportDab reports.

Iranian media reported earlier that Cristiano Ronaldo is facing the wrath of Iranian legal activists who fumed on the football superstar for breaking Iranian civic norms during his Asian Champions League visit in September.

While on his visit for the Asian Champions League match, Cristiano Ronaldo paid a visit to Iranian disabled painter Fatima Hamimi who had done a painting of the Portuguese football superstar.

Ronaldo appreciated Fatima for the painting, embraced her and gave her a perk in the cheek for the painting.

The gesture reportedly angered Iranian lawyers who filed a complaint against Cristiano Ronaldo.

Reports later emerged that Cristiano Ronaldo could be sentenced to 99 lashes of cane by Iranian authorities on his next visit to the country.

Now, Iranian embassy in Spain have debunked the report that the country is set to sentence or have sentenced Cristiano Ronaldo for 99 lashes for indecent behavior

Iranian statement on the report reads;

“We strongly deny the issuance of any court ruling against any international athlete in Iran. It is a matter of concern that the publication of such unfounded news could overshadow crimes against humanity and war crimes against the oppressed Palestinian nation.

“It should be noted that Cristiano Ronaldo traveled to Iran on September 18 and 19 to play in an official soccer match and was very well received by the people and the authorities. His sincere and humane meeting with Fatemeh Hamami was also praised and admired by both the people and the country’s sports authorities.”

The statement by the Iranian embassy has put a final end to all speculations that Cristiano Ronaldo could be sentenced by Iranian authorities.
