The 2023 Ballon d’Or nominees for the best goalkeeper award has been announced, MySportDab reports.
As usual, the best shotstoppers, who starred for their clubs and national teams last season, have been shortlisted for the coveted award which will take place on October 30.
The award, christened the Yachine Award, has featured top goalkeepers across different leagues and national teams, who distinguished themselves with brilliant campaigns for both club and country.
Leading the list of goalkeepers shortlisted for the award is Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale who was particularly instrumental to Arsenal’s brilliant Premier League campaign last season.
Aaron Ramsdale kept the sticks for the Gunners as they challenged Manchester City for the Premier League title.
He was also a regular inclusion in England senior men’s national team and has been called up for the national team duties last year.
Also on the list is Moroccan and former Sevilla goalkeeper, Yassine Bono, who is now plying his trade in Saudi Arabia, having joined Al Hilal this summer.
Bono starred for both club and country in 2022, helping Sevilla win their record sixth Europa League title.
He kept the sticks for Morocco as they became the first African national team to reach the semi-final of the World Cup after defeating Portugal in quarterfinal in Qatar 2022 World Cup to seal a spot in the last four.
Other goalkeepers nominated for the award are Manchester City goalkeeper, Ederson, who won a treble with Manchester City last season.
Manchester United’s Andre Onana also made the list after reaching Champions League final with Inter Milan last season.
