Kevin De Bruyne will miss a number of matches for Manchester City as Pep Guardiola confirms his injury situation, MySportDab reports.

Speaking ahead of Manchester City UEFA Super Cup clash against Sevilla, Pep Guardiola confirmed Kevin De Bruyne will be out for three to four months and will be made to undergo surgery.

The Belgian playmaker, who was critical for Manchester City’s last season’s treble triumph will now miss several weeks of action for Manchester City.

De Bruyne has a poor fitness history and has grappled with frequent injury blows that has ruled him out of the squad a number of times.

The former Chelsea midfielder picked up a harmstring issue in Manchester City’s opening Premier League clash against newly-promoted side Burnley.

Manchester City raced into a brilliant opening start of the season against Burnley, defeating the hosts by three unreplied goals to grab all three points in the opening weekend.

However, they lost Kevin De Bruyne since the first half of the clash due to the harmstring issue and will now miss him for months going into the season.

The three months timeline means Kevin De will miss close to half of the season before returning to the squad between October or November when the season will be far spent.

De Bruyne’s slated spell on the sideline will begin on Wednesday when Manchester City take on Sevilla in UEFA Super Cup clash.

After losing Community Shield to Arsenal before the start of the season, Pep Guardiola will hope to clinch the trophy as the take on Sevilla on Wednesday.
