AC Milan have announced the contract extension of Rafael Leao who is being targeted by Chelsea, MySportDab reports.
The Portuguese international was linked with a move to the Premier League which wont be happening anytime soon with this new contract.
The new deal for Rafael Leao will see him remain at the club until 2028 which will also see him stay out of the market for a while.
Chelsea were strongly linked with a move for the forward but couldn’t get him to make commitment to them despite all efforts.
According to AC Millan, they have now announced a new contract is done and signed keeping the player for an extended period of time.
Official Statement From AC Milan:
“AC Milan is pleased to announce that Rafael Alexandre da Conceição Leão has renewed his contract with the Club until 30 June 2028.
“Since joining in the summer of 2019, Rafa boasts 162 appearances, 41 goals and 29 assists for the Rossoneri, and was named “Best Player in Serie A” last season.
“AC Milan and Rafael continue their journey together.
The club have shared their joy after making the announcement official knowing how hard it was before an agreement came to play.
Rafael Leao have also done his part by committing himself to the club despite interests coming in from others in the Premier League.
His new contract comes with a release clause of €175 million which will be difficult to trigger by any team for a while.
His contract also make his salary increased to €5 million per year with an addition of €2 million in addon and signing fee.
