Italy finished third place at the UEFA Nations League 22-23 after beating the Netherlands 2-3, MySportDab reports.
The Dutch national team did try to make a comeback which failed to happen with them narrowly losing the third place match.
First Half Report
The Azzurri’s had total control of the first half which saw them dominating play and doing all in their power going forward.
The Netherlands came in the game with so much on their mind to make happen as they had control of the early minutes of play.
Italy took the lead in the 6th minutes of the game despite the Dutch starting well before Federico Dimarco made it count 0-1 from an outstanding goal in the encounter.
Another goal soon followed up from the Italians in the 20th minutes from Davide Frattesi who was able to make the game 0-2 as they progressed further.
The first half didn’t provide anything much after the two goals scored early which saw Italy taking a 0-2 lead into the break against the Netherlands after 45 minutes of play.
Second Half Report
The second half started well with both of them doing enough coming forward to make sure something dramatic happens in the game.
Steven Bergwijn scored in the 68th minutes of the game to make the scoreline 1-2 as things became interesting for the Netherlands.
Italy increased their lead further with a stunner from Federico Chiesa in the 72nd minutes making it 1-3 and pushing it further away from their opponent.
Another goal came from Wout Weghorst in the 82nd minutes, but unfortunately, it was called back by VAR which saw the goal being chopped off.
Georginio Wijnaldum scored a late goal, but it wasn’t enough as Italy claimed a narrow 2-3 victory which saw the Netherlands losing on the third placed match in the 22-23 Nations League.
