Manchester United coach Erik ten Hag has now revealed that Anthony’s injury is very ‘serious’, MySportDab reports.

There are now concerns that he could miss the FA Cup final against Manchester City.

The Brazilian had to be taken off on a stretcher during Manchester United’s 4-1 win against Chelsea at Old Trafford on Thursday.

Antony went down in pain just before the first half ended after a challenge by Blues defender Trevoh Chalobah.

The referee refused to give a free-kick as Chalobah appeared to win the ball and Antony at first looked like he wanted a foul to be given.

However, the 23-year-old started to slam his first into the ground and looked to be in serious discomfort.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka then put the ball out of play so that United’s medics can rush onto the pitch and treat him.

Medics tried to treat his lower right leg, but quickly realised that the former Ajax star could not play on further.

Antony looked distraught as he was taken off on the stretcher in a big game for Manchester United.

He tried to wave away the physio team carrying the aid, and stand but could not due to the pain.

He was consoled by Red Devils coach Erik ten Hag as he made his way back towards the dressing room.

Marcus Rashford replaced him and scored the fourth goal for Manchester United against Chelsea.

Also, United are worried about Luke Shaw’s fitness for the upcoming FA Cup final against derby rivals Manchester City on Saturday, June 3.

When asked about the injury after the match, Ten Hag said: ‘I don’t know. We all saw him come off. There is no doubt that it’s serious but we have to wait for 24 hours and then we know more about his injury.’

United did secure Champions League football without the winger who has been a vital part of the squad.
