Aston Villa have defeated Tottenham Hotspur at Villa Park to close in on European football next season, MySportDab reports.

First Half Report

It was a cagey start as the match kicked off with both sides struggling to dominate the game.

Second Half Report

Tottenham continued to dominate proceedings in the second half but could not break the goal deadlock.

Aston Villa were building momentum into the game and were maintaining their threats upfront.

The game continued with both sides unable to find a second half goal.

In the 76th minute, Aston Villa sank Tottenham comeback hopes with Douglas Luiz doubling the lead for the home side.

Harry Kane was able to get a let consolation for Tottenham after he converted a penalty to to make it 2-1.

The visitors made a late push to find an equaliser all to no avail as they settle for a 2-1 defeat after the final whistle.
