Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot has signed a new contract extension with Manchester United, MySportDab reports.

The Portuguese right-back has been key in Erik Ten Hag’s resurgent Manchester United squad this season.

He is a right-back but has been used by Erik Ten Hag as a full center-back in recent games, earning the recommendation of the manager.

Manchester United confirmed Dalot’s contract renewal in a club statement made available on the club’s website.

The Portugal international will now stay at Old Trafford until 2028 after penning a new five year deal with the club.

There is also an option of a one-year contract extension clause attached to the new deal implying the Portuguese can still extend his stay at the club till 2029.

In 2020/21 season, Diogo Dalot faced an uncertain future at Old Trafford as he struggled for game time and was subsequently sent on loan to Serie A where he played for AC Milan.

However, under Erik Ten Hag, Dalot has seen his career at Manchester United gather momentum as he becomes a key member of Erik Ten Hag’s squad.

He has racked up a total of 42 appearances for the club in all competitions this season and is set to play a key role in Erik Ten Hag’s Manchester United plan next season.

Diogo Dalot joined Manchester United from FC Porto in 2018 and has made 70 Premier League appearances for the club.

His first trophy with the club was the 2022/23 EFL Cup trophy won by Erik Ten Hag early this season.
