Chelsea will now have to survive without defender Thiago Silva after he suffered a knee ligament injury against Tottenham, MySportDab reports.

Now, the Brazilian will be unavailable in another major setback for manager Graham Potter.

Scans on Monday showed the extent of the injury and the 38-year-old won’t be back anytime soon.

Chelsea refused to state how long Silva would be injured, as that is based on his rehab process and his body response to treatment.

However, MySportDab understands that he will miss the next six weeks.

Chelsea play next against Leeds in the Premier League on Saturday and Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League, which are key games.

If Silva is unavailable for six weeks, he would miss Chelsea’s matches against Leicester and Everton and some games in April.

Wesley Fofana came on as a substitute for Silva at Spurs and performed well.

Meanwhile, the blues still have both Kalidou Koulibaly and January signing Benoit Badiashile available.

Chelsea also have full backs that can play at centre back in the squad.

The Blues hierarchy still have faith with Potter despite two wins in 15 matches, and they are way behind in the top four race.
