Lionel Messi reportedly snubbed Kylian Mbappe in the just-concluded 2022 FIFA Awards vote, MySportDab reports.

The 2022 FIFA Awards, which took place in Paris, France featured some of the finest stars of the game cutting across various categories.

While there are awards for best goal, best fan, best goalkeeper, best coach, best role players, and others, all eyes were on the FIFA Best Men’s Player Awards.

The Best Men’s Player Awards was contested by Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi and Karim Benzema.

Voted by the captains, coaches, fans and football journalists, Lionel Messi was awarded the best player of the year.

Details of how the players voted have emerged after the awards.

It has been revealed Lionel Messi did not vote for his closet challenger Kylian Mbappe and instead opted to vote for Neymar.

According to Daily Mail, the Argentine World Cup winner and record Ballon d’Or winner opted for Neymar instead of Kylian Mbappe.

Kylian Mbappe Reacts After Award Loss to Messi

While the PSG team captain has lost the award to Messi, he however, appeared more optimistic and unbothered by the award loss.

Kylian Mbappe took to his Twitter handle to send a hearty congratulations to Messi after he emerged the winner of the award.

The France international calls Lionel Messi “the best,” after he won the award – the first time he has referred to the Argentina international as the best amid the goat debate between the later and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Kylian Mbappe has always picked Cristiano Ronaldo ahead of Lionel Messi, and has been an old-time fan of the Portuguese and Manchester United legend.
