Liverpool have now officially announced the signing of winger Cody Gakpo from PSV for £44m, MySportDab reports.
On boxing day, the two clubs revealed they had reached an agreement for Gakpo’s sale.
Now the forward has signed a five-and-a-half-year deal with the Premier League club after passing his medical.
There was interest in the player from English teams like Man United but Liverpool were faster to get things done.
Speaking to Liverpool’s official website, Gakpo said:
‘Yes, I’m really excited to be here. I can’t way to start training and playing for this club.
‘This is the perfect club for me to come and show what I can do and help the team to achieve more like before.
‘I think it’s also good to develop here and there’s a lot of great players to learn from.’
He added: ‘I can’t wait to play at Anfield. I heard many stories about the stadium atmosphere.
‘Obviously I want to win many prizes as a team, to perform well, and show the world what we can do as a team.’
Gakpo has been in fantastic form for his club this year and has scored nine goals and provided 12 assists from 14 Eredivisie matches this season.
The 23-year-old’s signing is due to concerns over Luis Diaz’s injury after he completed a new knee surgery.
Also, Darwin Nunez is struggling to find his form and start scoring goals in every match.
